BIRDS' Week

I am working on Birds this week to add-on to my collections. This is what I have achieved so far...

Getting more headaches this week... hopefully I manage to create more pieces before the end of the week.

My first PCAGOE Challenge entry

June Challenge Theme: SELF-PORTRAIT

I made this 2 weeks ago for PCAGOE June Challenge.
“Everyday is a happy day if you just keep the smile on.” This is how I get my inspiration when working on this piece. I like having highlights on my hair so this portrait got some highlights too!

This ready-to-display photo frame measures 4-1/2” (11.5cm) in diameter. The portrait is made with PREMO Polymer Clay on a craft photo frame, accented with a 5mm metal casting pink Swarovski crystal and embellished with fancy Czech glass beads. The orchids are hand-sculpted and finished with a touch of pearl-ex for the shines.

“Lets feel the breezes, smell the flowers, feel the joy and serenity that lies within you and indulge in that moment. Every minute in life should be enjoyed and savored.”

Teeny Turtles on the March

Having a Turtle's Fever today... all go mini!

I haven't thought of what to do with them yet, probably into charms or add them to an artwork which is still brewing in my head. Anyway, it's just something I wanted to share.

By the way, the size of my teeny turtles remains under wrap for now and to be unveiled when they are ready for sale.

More DraKons Hot from the Oven!

I actually planned to make some birds today, or should it be yesterday cos' it is past midnight now when this posting is made... Anyway, somehow it turned out my creativity of the day going for Dragons.

So, here are my babies adding to my Drakon's collection:

Available at my etsy store now.

Pendants with A Purpose

This is an on-going project run by PCAGOE.
Check it out at http://pcagoe.com/pendants-with-a-purpose/

I find this project very meaningful. It is wonderful to be able to have fun working with my polymer clay and at the same time, hopefully, making whoever receive my piece of creations happy... need to get some smile on their faces. Here are what I have created for this project:

Theme: HOPE
" the day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring"

If you are interested with this project, you can participate by signing up as a member at http://pcagoe.com/

Quotes:

"Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action."

"Believe, when you are most unhappy, that there is something for you to do in the world. So long as you can sweeten another's pain, life is not in vain."

Something special for 4th July

When you see the stores full of stuff in blue, red and white you'll know the special day is just around the corner. I want to make something special for 4th July... something I've never done before.

This one-of-a-kind American Eagle pin was created few days ago. After spending approx. 2 hours squishing the clay, I'd say it turned out alright. It will be available for sale at my etsy shop.

Discovering Polymer Clay and Lovin' it!

I was back to Singapore in March for visiting and saw a new clay shop in town. Immediately I fall in love with the critters and itsy-bitsy stuff they made out of clay. So when I returned to Austin I begin my research about polymer clay thru the internet and voila! I found Polymer Clay Central (PCC). They have almost all answers to my questions about Polymer Clay and I was facinated with the works done by all the talented artists.

To start my first project, I had to decide what I want to do. There are plenty of tutorials available at PCC. I like cane but seems too complicated to start with, so I decided to try Filigree projects. I rush to Hobby Lobby, which is 8 mins drive from my place, and get PREMO, extruder and some other tools.
Following this the first "FiliCATbylilin"- GERALD was created. Then it was FiliCAT GOLDIE. I'm done with filigree for now.

Next project, I'm trying out Cane and started with TrueLeigh Rose and Leaf Cane (tutorial from PCC). This project is quite fun but I don't enjoy reducing the cane. I am impressed with the patience of those cane artists who reduced cane from the block the size of a football (or bigger). My Salute to them! Enough on Cane, for now, next...

I need inspirations. The thing about the Internet is there are plenty of "links" that brings you from one site to another. I can't recall how did I get there but somehow I ended up at this site: http://www.cforiginals.net/ Like the cupid's arrow it hits right to my heart -- I'm just falling in love with her creations! Christi has 3 instruction books available then and I can't decide which to get. My way is, when you can't decide, just get it all! (The 4th book was released this month and I can't wait to have it in my hands)

Now you can see my CF's Style "TURTLESbylilin" and the latest "DRAKONbylilin" available for sale at my etsy shop ---

I don't know what my next project is... so check my blog and etsy shop frequently ;)
